Beautiful Beaches in Aceh

Aceh is also blessed with many beuatiful white sandy beaches. As someone who loves traveling where tourist have never set foot, the Deyah Raya Beach was perfect. Only visited on weekends by handful of locals, the beach is quiet and clean on most days.  Enjoy the lovely sunsets and the rhythmic sounds of the waves kissing the shore.

Loacated around 20 kilometers from Banda Aceh, Lampuuk Beach is a sloping stretch of soft white sand facing the magnificent Indian Ocean. Lush pine trees that used the fence the beach were uprooted during the tsunami, but now they have started to grow again.  Fresh fish vendors waited patiently for visitors who loved to eat freshly grilled seafood on the beach. Sunbathing, fishing, sailing, diving and surfing are main activities here in Lampuuk.

Just a few kilometers south of Lampuuk, Lhok Nga Beach is more popular beach that has long been the ultimate tourist destination. Situated right on the main road that connects Banda Aceh and Calang in the Regency of Aceh Jaya, the beach is always crowded with tourists as well as locals who often use the beach as a rest area along rides to the southern region of Aceh. The beach is adorned with small huts with chairs and tables where visitors can enjoy one of the best panoramic views in Aceh.

Iboih Beach

Iboih Beach, on the west coast of Weh Island, is a captivating marine paradise and the most frequently visited destination in Weh, mode popular in the 1980s by divers from around the world. The beauty of Iboih is also compliment by the presence of a small neighboring island across the beach, Rubiah Island, where the most dives are conducted. A number of cottages and resorts now decorate the tranquil beach as the area and its underwater treasure recover from the tsunami. Iboih is also more relazed in term of religious obedience. Tourists in bikinis are not considered offensive. However, please do practice moderation and make sure your bikinis are not super skimpy.

Gapang Beach

Only a few kilometers from Iboih lies the Gapang Beach, offering another quieter option for travelers. With a longer stretch of sost sandy beach, Gapang recently gained popularity, with the emergence of several dive centers in the area.
