Makassar, South Sulawesi known as home to the best seafood in Indonesia. Makassar offers more than just mere satisfaction to one’s stomach. This gateway to the Eastern part of the archipelago is big and proud, yet romantic and stunning.
Tanjung Bira or Cape Bira is famous for its white powder-like sand beaches, clear water, and reasonably consistent weather condition.The drive to Tanjung Bira supposedly takes about 4 hours, passing through Tanahberu and its dockyards with halfway done Phinisi schooners.

Built on the cliff facing the bright blue sky and clear turquoise sea. Hotels in Tanjung Bira usually  have their own restaurants and guests stay inside the hotel area to enjoy dinner.  European and Indonesian cuisine can be found on their menu.

 How to Get to Tanjung Bira

Tanjung Bira is located 190 kilometers from Makassar, capital of South Sulawesi. It will takes 4 hours by car. The Hasanuddin International airport in Makassar serves flights to and from major cities in Indonesia .  To reach Bulukumba, visitors can go straight from the airport to the Malengkeri terminal in Makassar by taxi with fare about IDR 40.000. From the terminal, visitors can choose to take a bus or other public transportation to Bulukumba.  By public transport, the trip to Bulukumba will take about 2 -3 hours and costs around IDR 35.000.
Once you reach downtown Bulukumba, you can get to Bira Beach by taking the pete-pete minibuses for about IDR 8.000 to IDR 10.000. The Tanah Beru phinisi dock yards are along this road.
In Tanjung Bira Beach, public transport operates only till the afternoon. If you wish to return to Makassar, there are also cars for hire to take you back to Makasar for about IDR 500.000
